40 minute speed paint

Earlier this evening I decided to practice portraiture. That being said, I've decided to make this a daily routine for myself.

Trying to work out the "spirit" monster's facial structure.

OIl Rub Portrait Assignment

FInal- Colored Pencil layered over the oil

First Step-Oil Rub with Burnt Sienna and Mauve Violet.

Sketch for the final.
I'm not completely satisfied with the final result. I need to practice with layering colored pencils.

Decided to try practicing with oil paints earlier.
Quite the experience.

Oil Rub

This has to be one the greatest (and strangest) combination of mediums that I've come across. It has a nostalgic quality that can't quite be captured with any other method (that I've been exposed to).
I'm excited about developing with this process.

Water Color

Been working on water color for the past two weeks, I find it rather relaxing.

Cut Paper Process

Working on the cut paper assignment this weekend!

Need to add thicker shadows along the jacket first though.
And then transfer to the black paper.
Followed by the use of an x acto.
Scary stuff.

Fish Assignment: Giant Isopod

Handed this in yesterday, hadn't photographed the final yet though.
This assignment was hella fun to work through.
Working values with ink can be a bit frightening, but it's good to work through that fear.
Make mistakes.
Make many
many
mistakes.

Flat Assignment-Prep Work

Final Color Plan

There's a lot more prep work/thumbnails but this is the final composition plan to prepare for the final.

Still Life

First oil painting of m'sophomore year. It's been a good 6 years since I last used oils. Feels good to be getting back into it.
